Meet Dr. AbjanichDr. James Abjanich graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude from Stony Brook University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry. In 1983 he graduated from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery where he earned his DDS degree. He was awarded the Rowe-Weiberg medal for excellence in prosthodontics, based on his academic and clinical performance at Columbia. He also conducted research in bone regeneration and dental alloy sensitivity during his time at Columbia. Dr. Abjanich completed a general practice residency at the Manhattan Veterans Administration Medical Center in 1984. He received a specialty certificate in prosthodontics from the Manhattan Veterans Administration Medical Center where he served as chief resident in 1986.

In 1986 Dr. Abjanich joined the practice and in 1989 became a partner. He has been a clinical associate professor of dentistry at Columbia since 1986. Dr. Abjanich has taught in both the undergraduate and post graduate prosthodontics programs for over 20 years including a position as ethics course facilitator. He has lectured nationally on esthetic dentistry, dental color, dental reconstructions and implants. Dr. Abjanich is co-author of a text book chapter titled “Prosthodontic Considerations for Dental Implant Restorations.” In 2001 Dr. Abjanich was awarded the alumni medal from the Columbia University Alumni Federation for his years of exceptional service. He lives in Westchester County with his wife, children and puppy. He enjoys photography, golf and cooking.
